BJP leaders always claim to be champions of `value based politics’. But the party was locked up in an embarrassing situation when its own leaders became unpopular in `sex video scandals’. Moreover, the party action against those involved exposed its differential treatment.
The party was taken by surprise when a video went viral in which its Guntur district BJP president Vanama Narendra was seen having an obscene conversation with a women worker of the same party in a video call. The party leadership was forced to respond as that video went viral on social media.
In that video call, Narendra told the woman worker that he would seduce her with a floral saree tomorrow night.. inviting her to take drinks together. She also spoke obscenities without any hesitation, which became more controversial. Some district leaders of the party sent this video clipping to their leadership.
On the next day, a video clipping of Patibandla Ramakrishna, a former district president, state executive member of the party and a media panelist, showing his naked body while making a video call to someone else, went viral on social media.
The state leadership was shocked by these two incidents. Due to the loss of reputation of the party due to both of them, they were forced to resign immediately. The BJP also suspended a woman worker who was involved in an indecent conversation with Narendra from the party.
On the other hand, Patibandla Ramakrishna released a statement on Thursday. He claimed that he had nothing to do with the viral video and that they tried to damage his reputation by morphing his face. He said that a complaint has also been filed online at Guntur Cyber Crime Station.
Vanama Narendra has not yet responded publicly. However, observers are wary of the attitude of the state party leadership. They have not taken any action against these two `male leaders’, even not given a show cause notice. But the female worker was suspended.
Interestingly, the women worker was earlier while in YCP was locked up in similar sexy dialogue conversation with former minister Ambati Rambabu, which had created political uproar in the state. She later joined BJP.
