Hyderabad: On Saturday, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi visited Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at his residence to urgently address various issues concerning the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). During the meeting, the Mayor brought up the lapsed term of the Standing Committee, urging prompt action in organizing polls for its members. Additionally, she discussed the forthcoming GHMC budget, slated to be presented before the general elections.
The scheduled polls for the 15-member apex body were disrupted due to the imposition of the model code of conduct for the legislative assembly elections in November. Moreover, the General Body meeting, originally set for August, faced delays. The Mayor informed the chief minister, who also oversees Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), that GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose is awaiting government instructions to facilitate the necessary arrangements for conducting the General Body elections.
