Galla Jayadev made it clear to CBN

Friday, May 3, 2024

The main opposition of Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party won three out of the 25 Parliament seats in 2019 elections. Kesineni Nani won from Vijayawada segment and Galla Jayadev clinched the Guntur seat. Another MP K. Ram Mohan Naidu represents the Srikakulam constituency.

Out of these three winning horses, two of them are going to stay of the contention in the upcoming elections. Kesineni Nani has already been cold-shouldered by the party high command. Disgruntled with the decision of Chandra Babu Naidu to keep him away from party-related affairs, Nani himself announced that he will resign from the party and for the MP post.

Meanwhile, it is reliably heard that Galla Jayadev, a business magnate who switched to politics after the separation of united Andhra Pradesh and won the 2014 and 2019 elections, also made it clear that he will not contest in 2024 due to personal reasons.

It is a known fact that Jayadev has not been politically active ever since the Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government started targeting his businesses and issued closure notices to two of his companies of Amara Raja Batteries.

Jayadev didn’t even attend Nara Lokesh’s yatra in Guntur in July last year and also didn’t enter his constituency for months together, hinting that he was not interested in politics henceforth.

As Chandra Babu Naidu is currently busy finalising the candidates for both assembly and parliament segments, Jayadev has reportedly expressed his disinterest in contesting from any seat even if he was offered to do so.

He has decided to concentrate on his businesses and take a long hiatus from politics even as he continues fight against the YSRCP government legally for giving notices to close his companies for alleged violation of environmental norms, said a close source.
