Former Pithapuram MLA Pendem Dorababu met Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan in Mangalagiri today, accompanied by his family members. The meeting took place at the Jana Sena headquarters.
During the discussion, Dorababu expressed his intention to join Jana Sena, to which Pawan Kalyan extended his approval. Reports suggest that Dorababu will officially join the party at the Jana Sena foundation day event in Pithapuram on March 14.
Dorababu began his political career with the BJP in 1999 but lost the elections that year. He later won the 2004 polls before shifting to the Congress in 2009. Following the demise of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, he joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He contested as a YSRCP candidate in 2014 but faced defeat, later securing a win in 2019. However, YSRCP denied him a ticket for the 2024 elections, instead fielding Vanga Geetha, who lost to Pawan Kalyan.
