Stating that the Congress government has become a curse for the farmers, Former BRS Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy has raised a serious issue as to why 16 Congress and BJP MPs representing Telangana, who speak on all issues in the country and the world, are not talking to the farmers about urea? He expressed his concern that during the 79th Independence Day celebrations, farmers came out on the roads chanting Jai Kisan Nai Urea and lined up their sandals and fought for a single bag of urea.
Niranjan Reddy said that if they go with Aadhaar cards and stand in line for days, they are given a single bag of urea together with their husbands. Last year, he recalled paddy was sown in 66.78 lakh acres. But, he said that paddy cultivation in the state has decreased by 22 lakh acres compared to the previous year, and in terms of total crop area, cultivation has decreased by 10 lakh acres compared to the previous year.
He said that during the BRS regime, 1.35 crore acres of all crops were cultivated in the rainy season in 2022, and at that time, the same 10 lakh metric tons of urea were properly supplied to all crops. Now, even though paddy cultivation has decreased in 22 lakh acres, is it not a grave failure of the government to not provide urea? Is it incompetence? Did the people vote for you for this?, Niranjan Reddy asked.
He wondered what is the need for CM Revanth Reddy to talk about common sense and language on the occasion of Independence Day? He demanded that if this government has common sense, it should clarify how the sufferings of the farmers will be addressed? What have they achieved by going to Delhi 50 times? At least they could not bring urea. He deplored that even the BJP MPs who provide indirect support did not talk about urea. They will not even try to bring urea, Niranjan Reddy said.
He alleged that the alliance between the Congress and BJP parties is going strong in the state and criticized the stances of the Center and the state governments on Kaleshwaram, Polavaram and Banakacharla as making that clear.
He wondered that the Center is ready to provide a loan without even a DPR in the case of Banakacharla, and that the Congress government is indirectly cooperating with AP projects by letting water flow down the drain without using Kaleshwaram, which has given results for five years.
