YS Jaganmohan Reddy government is known for abnormal delay in payment of salaries to its employees and pensioners, besides uncertain fate of long pending dues. This has been creating discontent among government employees towards the ruling party.
The government is giving first priority for money transfer towards Navaratna schemes during the first few days of a month and later only after about ten days paying salaries.
But, as polling date is nearing and due to election code the government may not bring pressure on officers for payment of Navratnas immediately, government employees were surprised to realise that their salaries were paid into their bank accounts on Wednesday, Mar 1st.
Nearly after four and half years, they were paid on the first of a month. This may be due to fear that discontent among government employees may cost them heavily in the polling process. So, it is believed that the government is alerted to the issue of salaries as the date of polling is on May 13.
Even though May 1 was a bank holiday, salaries of employees and pensions of pensioners were deposited in to their accounts at 10 am. The opposition is alleging that the employees and pensioners are mad at the YCP and that they are trying to cheat with wages and pensions on the first date.
Within a year of the YCP YCP government coming to power, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic continued for almost two years. In this process, the state faced severe economic ups and downs, but cash transfer schemes and welfare schemes in the name of Navaratna continued.
Due to this, the payment of salaries and pensions was significantly delayed. Group C and D employees faced serious difficulties due to delay in salaries and pensions of employees. Pensioners also had to wonder when the accounts would be credited.
With the implementation of the Election Code in the state, brakes have been put on money transfers to new schemes and old schemes. Due to this, priority is given to the payment of salaries to the employees. As there is no pressure from politicians and the administration is under the supervision of the Election Commission, salaries are being paid to the employees without any problems.
