With each passing day, the discussions on the AP’s capital are getting interesting as the CM himself changed his official statements many times. Now that the latest declaration from Jagan that he would shift to Vizag to make it the only capital, the RBI seems to make it official with one of its latest decisions.
The Reserve Bank of India is the top most bank that dictates all the banks and it acts as the monetary distributor for all the states from the central government. The RBI generally has regional offices only and only in the capitals of respective states but nowhere else. Such an apex bank is now working towards setting up its regional office in Vizag and the officials have already started searching for the right building to match their criteria within the city. Now the million dollar question is that ‘Does RBI recognize Vizag as AP’s permanent capital?’ as it’s setting up its regional office in the steel city.
Until now RBI maintained its regional office in Hyderabad during the combined Andhra Pradesh. Post bifurcation, as per the law, Hyderabad acted as the joint capital of both AP and Hyderabad so it stayed in the twin cities and traveled to Amravati whenever they had work. Political circles of AP are now completely immersed themselves in the discussions of RBI as it indirectly supports Jagan’s decision of making Vizag the capital when the case is yet to have a hearing in the Supreme Court of India.
