Tuesday, July 2, 2024

A Delhi court on Friday granted bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is involved in a money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor scam. The Rouse Avenue court in Delhi approved Kejriwal’s bail plea.

The plea was reviewed by the vacation bench of the Rouse Avenue court. After hearing the arguments, Judge Nyay Bindu delivered the verdict, granting Kejriwal bail with a surety of Rs 1 lakh.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) requested a 48-hour delay for Kejriwal to sign the bail bond to allow them time to appeal in a higher court, but Judge Bindu denied this request.

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with the money laundering case. Ahead of the general elections, he was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court. After the elections, he returned to Tihar jail. With the court’s decision to grant him bail, Kejriwal is set to be released from jail tomorrow.
