Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana announced that approximately 10,000 acres of land will be required in Amaravati for the development of smart industries, a sports city, and an international airport. He stated that the government has opted for land pooling instead of acquisition to protect the interests of farmers.
Speaking at the 50th CRDA Authority meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the CM’s camp office in Undavalli, Narayana revealed that farmers in seven villages have already agreed to contribute 20,000 acres for the second phase of land pooling. He added that the first phase of Amaravati’s construction is expected to be completed within three years.
Chief Minister Naidu has reportedly approved the allocation of 2,500 acres each for the development of smart industries and a sports city. Additionally, 2.5 acres will be allotted for companies planning to construct convention centres with a capacity of 10,000 people, while 2 acres will be provided for centres with a 7,500-seat capacity, adjacent to upcoming five-star hotels.
CRDA has also received permission to extract sand from the Krishna River upstream of the Prakasam Barrage for ongoing construction activities. Officials estimate that 159.54 cubic metres of sand will be required over the next two years.
