On Monday, the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court rejected the interim bail plea filed by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha in connection with the excise policy case. Kavitha, a prominent leader of BRS, sought bail citing her 16-year-old son’s upcoming exams, for which she argued he needed her “moral and emotional support.”
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja presided over the court proceedings and considered arguments presented by Kavitha’s counsel and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing Kavitha, emphasized the irreplaceable role of a mother, stating that neither the father nor other family members could adequately provide the same level of support.
Singhvi highlighted that the accused, who is a mother, has a teenage child whose exams are scheduled during the current months, extending into April. He emphasized that the child’s age distinguishes the situation from one involving an infant or toddler, underlining the significance of the mother’s moral and emotional presence during this critical period.
