Congress senior MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy Threaten To Resign As MLA If Not Included In The cabinet

Wednesday, April 9, 2025

The demand for mandatory representation of Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts in the Telangana cabinet, which have not been represented so far, is gaining prominence bringing pressure on the Congress high-command to revive its list of probable MLAs to be included in the cabinet.

Senior leader K Jana Reddy has already brought this issue to the attention of the party high command by writing a letter to the AICC leaders, and several leaders are meeting AICC leaders in Delhi to pressurize on this issue. Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Rangareddy, a senior leader from Ranga Reddy district, has gone a step further and made it clear that he will resign from the post of MLA if he is not given a ministerial berth.

He said that he will field someone from another community in his place in Ibrahimpatnam constituency and get him to win so that to include them in the cabinet, if the party high-command decides to give representation to a particular community in the cabinet.

Ranga Reddy revealed that he has already requested AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, party leader Rahul Gandhi and AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal to give him a place in the cabinet. He said that by allocating a ministerial post to him, it will be like getting a ministerial post for Ranga Reddy district.

He demanded that leaders from the combined 10 districts be given a place in the cabinet. Presently, leaders from only six districts have been given a place in the cabinet, but even if he does not get a place in the cabinet, he demanded that someone from some social group in Ranga Reddy district be given a ministerial post.

MLA Ranga Reddy made it clear that if the people of the combined Ranga Reddy district are to move forward and coordinate, someone here should have a minister. By making such statements, they are also trying to send a signal that there is no need to give ministerial posts to anyone else from districts like Nalgonda, Khammam, Mahabub Nagar and Warangal, which already have a large representation.

It is clear that there is growing discord within the party circles regarding the efforts being made to appoint Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy’s brother Rajagopal Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy’s wife Padmavati as ministers.
