Coalition Govt. Is Ready To present A Full-pledged Budget For The First Time

Friday, April 18, 2025

The coalition government in Andhra Pradesh is ready to present a full-fledged annual budget for the first time since its formation in the assembly session begins on Monday.  The government will present the 2025-26 annual budget in both houses on the 28th of this month, giving priority to the implementation of election promises.

It is understood that the government is planning to hold budget sessions for about 3 weeks. It is understood that the Governor’s speech will be on the progress achieved by the government in the last eight months, the welfare provided, 2047 goals, financial difficulties and other issues.

It is reported that the budget has been prepared as a balance between welfare and development. The government has paid special attention to the preparation of the budget with the aim of achieving 15% growth. After the general elections were held last year, the old government first presented the vote-on-account budget to the House.

After that, the coalition government that came to power also presented the vote-on-account for another four months due to financial difficulties, debts and other issues. Since the NDA government had to provide space in this budget for the promises made in the elections and the items in the manifesto, it seems that it has been prepared accordingly.

Mobilization of resources will be key here to implement the promises. The Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has already met several times with the Finance Department officials and the Finance Minister on the preparation of the budget. After that, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav had a detailed discussion on the budget proposals with the ministers of all government departments, the principal secretaries and secretaries of the respective departments.

They discussed their priorities in the respective departments. It is reported that the budget has been prepared according to the constraints of the state’s financial picture. It seems that the budget will be prepared according to the election promises, taking into account their priorities department-wise and also stating the constraints of the state’s financial picture.

The government intends to utilize the centrally sponsored schemes as much as possible and get funds from the center. It is estimated that additional funds may be available from the center through the education and medical departments.
