Amaravati: On Monday, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the upgraded YSR Aarogyasri scheme, extending free medical treatment up to Rs. 25 lakh to individuals with an annual income of up to Rs. 5 lakh. Launching the scheme virtually from the Camp office, the Chief Minister deemed it unparalleled in the country, covering 4.25 crore people from 1,48,000 families. He also officially commenced the issuance of new YSR Aarogyasri cards.

Highlighting the revolutionary nature of the initiative, Chief Minister Reddy emphasized its role in preventing people from falling into a debt trap due to escalating medical expenses. He announced that MLAs, village secretariat staff, volunteers, ANMs, and ASHA workers would engage in an extensive public awareness campaign starting Tuesday, educating the public on how to utilize the enhanced medical benefits for 3257 ailments and procedures at 2513 hospitals.

The Chief Minister noted that Aarogyasri medical treatment would now be accessible at 85 super-speciality hospitals in Hyderabad, 35 hospitals in Bangalore, and 16 hospitals in Chennai. He underscored the significant increase in the number of beneficiaries, reaching 53 lakhs from 22,32,000 during the TDP rule.
