Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s team is making extensive efforts to attract investments during the Davos visit. For the second day he has meetings with the chief executives of more than 15 companies. Maritime transport giant Maersk has shown interest in investing in the state. The CM also met with the CEOs of LG Chem, Cisco and Carlsberg.
Denmark’s Maersk, one of the world’s largest maritime transport companies, has shown interest in investing in the state. CM Chandrababu expressed the opinion that if Maersk, which operates in 130 countries and has a leading share in the global transport sector, comes to the state, AP will become the leading state in the country in maritime transport.
In this context, the CM held discussions with Maersk CEO Vincent Clerk. The CM told Vincent Clerk that having a coastline of more than 1000 kilometers and having extensive ports is AP’s strength. . He clarified that AP has the potential to become a transportation hub for Asia Pacific markets.
On the other hand, CM Chandrababu met with Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco, a multi-national technology company known for providing networking technologies such as Ethernet, optical, wireless, and mobility, data centers, and the Internet of Things. The CM expressed his desire to be a partner in the development of Andhra Pradesh to Chuck Robbins.
He said that there is no shortage of talent in the state and that a plan should be made to set up a global capability center in Visakhapatnam or Tirupati. The Chief Minister explained the opportunities available in the state to LG Chem Limited CEO Shin Hak Cheol to invest in various sectors.
The Chief Minister requested LG Chem’s subsidiary Energy, which is planning to set up a lithium-ion battery plant, to be established in the state. He suggested examining the possibilities of setting up units in the petrochemical sector in Moolapet – Visakhapatnam and a semiconductor unit in Tirupati. He also requested LG Chem CEO to be an ambassador for investments between Andhra Pradesh and South Korea.
The Chief Minister also held talks with Carlsberg Group CEO Jacob Arup Anderson, which produces fruit juices, soft drinks, beers, and packaged drinking water. He asked for an integrated brewery and bottling unit to be set up in the state. For this, he suggested examining industrial parks in Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam, and Sri City.
He asked for a partnership with farmers in the state to procure high-quality food products like barley, corn, and rice. Minister Nara Lokesh met Uber Vice President Madhukanan and asked for a regional technology hub to be set up in Visakhapatnam to boost the developing IT ecosystem, skilled workforce, and low-cost infrastructure in the state.
He said that charging stations should be set up across the state as the electric vehicle sector is gaining momentum in Andhra Pradesh. They want to integrate EVs into the Uber fleet and provide services to cities like Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati to support sustainable urban transportation.
