Amid uproar among TDP cadre over the suspicions that few retired officers are playing key roles in postings of IAS and IPS officers, who are allegedly giving key positions to those close to YCP regime, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said to be pushing for corrective measures.
Particularly he wondered how Gazette notification was issued to the controversial Guarantee Pension Scheme (GPS) after he took charge, without his knowledge. This has created dissent among state government employees, who are waiting for a dialogue with the Chief Minister, before the government moves ahead in this regard.
Chandrababu said to be taken serious note following protests from the employees union about this GO notification and ordered the top officials of the Finance Department to inquire why the gazette was released now without the knowledge of the government officials.
Naidu on Monday ordered the officials of the Finance Department to stop the guaranteed pension scheme GO, which was brought into force by the YCP government, ignoring the objections of the employees. In the context of the anger expressed by the employees unions over the issuance of the gazette on the implementation of GPS, the finance department has inquired about the issue of GPS in the review.
Chandrababu objected to issuing orders now on the proposals taken by the previous government. He expressed his displeasure. The gazette was issued last week. To implement GPS for state government employees, Special Principal Secretary, Finance Department SS Rawat approved the GPS while going on leave.
On 12th June, the Finance Department released GO 54 on this, on the same day when Chandrababu Naidu and his cabinet took oath. These orders were issued in the name of Rawat. Based on this, a gazette was notified last week. There was strong objection from the employees unions on this decision. They have expressed their displeasure over the implementation of the GPS Act contrary to the promise made in the elections by Chandrababu Naidu.
Now, unions are expressing joy after Naidu ordered them to stop implementation of the GO, saying that despite five years of struggle during the YCP government, the GPS Act was brought forcefully. APJAC Amaravati expressed happiness over the chief minister’s order to stop the GO given on the implementation of GPS.
