Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu though putting a brave face that the state can come out from the destruction created by the previous YCP regime, he seems to be struggling hard on implementation of his “Super Six” election promises. Except for raising pension amount, he is yet to make a move on other promises.
He is making moves on reopening of Anna Canteens from August 15. However, there is still no clarity on providing free bus travel to women in state-owned RTC buses. In this regard, he has surprised people in Srisailam by stating that there were no funds available and that the public should understand the financial situation.
Moreover, his failure in presenting a full pledged budget in the assembly and extending vote on account budget for another four months also said to be due to his uncertainty over mobilization of funds. Though he criticized previous YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime of mobilizing indiscriminate debts, he also during last six weeks obtained Rs 12,000 loans to meet his commitments.
Unless he presents a full-pledged budget, it will be difficult to give updates on the “Super Six’ promises. These pre-election promises played a key role in ensuring a tactical win in recent polls. By the time he presented a full-pledged budget some time during October, only four months remained in this financial year. As a result, it may be difficult to show any cognizable performance financially during this year.
Though Naidu is putting great hopes on `liberal assistance’ from the Center with regard to financial support to key projects like Amaravati and Polavaram, the Union Budget failed to give any solid allocations for the state. The much hyped Rs 15,000 crore loans from financial institutions is also unlikely to be materialized during this financial year.
Even after Chandrababu’s personal appeal for approval of Polavaram Revised estimations and also resources for rehabilitation packages, there is no concrete assurance from the center. As a result it may not be possible to make any headway in these two prestigious projects of Chandrababu Naidu. In this background, Naidu’s recent remarks suggest difficulties he has been facing in making a move.
