Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has become serious about why collectors are being negligent in performing their duties. On the second day of the Collector’s conference, Thursday, CM Chandrababu met with Collectors and SPs at the Velagapudi Secretariat and discussed problems they are facing.
In this meeting, CM Chandrababu gave directions on issues such as development and welfare programs undertaken during his six-month rule, Swarnandhra Vision 2047 document, and newly introduced policies. On this occasion, CM Chandrababu expressed his anger at the behavior of some officials.
House site, house, power, gas, tap water are basic necessities and priority should be given to these in cities and villages. He instructed the collectors to increase pensions for orphans and semi-orphans. He suggested that pensions be given to families whose parents have died.
The Chief Minister has issued clear instructions to the collectors on the issue of pension payment to ineligible persons in the state. Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar explained to the Chief Minister that fake pensions were identified in a pilot survey conducted across the state and that pensions may be being paid to 6 lakh ineligible persons across the state. He explained that ineligible persons were deliberately included while issuing pensions.
Also, Chandrababu discussed in this meeting what kind of goals should be pursued for the next four and a half years. The Chief Minister said that NREGA is a demand driven program, if the 100 working days are properly managed, the material component will come. But, he expressed anger that the working days and the material component are not being completed.
He lamented that they are not able to complete the workdays and material components. He also pointed out that only 14.8 percent of the village festival has been completed. There is still a month and a half left. ASR district has completed 54 percent. Why is it 1.6 percent in another district?, he asked.
He also asked them why the bill is not paid immediately after the work is completed? Only 9.6 percent of the cattle shed has been completed. Why don’t you pay the bills even if you have money?
