Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu soon after taking charge is mainly focusing on Polvaram and Amaravati. On one hand he is making efforts to revive various construction activities that were halted during YS Jaganmohan Reddy period, for which preparing an extensive action plan.
On the other hand, to make the capital region as the center of activity for all state and central government activities, earlier he had convinced about 15 central government organizations to set up their offices here. For which, he also allocated them sites in the capital region.
However, with the change of the government all those efforts were stalled, as YS Jagan’s government has practically shelved the idea of Amaravati as the capital city. Now, CRDA officials are in touch with the central organizations that allotted the lands between 2014-19, pursuing them to set up their offices here.
CRDA officials are exploring their plans in this regard, asking whether they are still interested to go ahead with their proposed activity here. It seems that they were expressing surprise that in the last five years no one was in touch with them and didn’t extend any cooperation for them to move ahead.
Some organizations, however, want to show the space allocated to them so as to enable them to make a fresh decision in this regard. On the otherhand, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, who met union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi on Saturday also urged central government’s liberal assistance for the development of Amaravati region.
The previous TDP government allotted land in the capital region to various central institutions and banks. They include RBI, CBI, FCI, CPWD, Department of Posts, Nifty , NID, Tool Design. NABARD, SBI, Union Bank, Canara Bank, LIC, Indian Oil, HPCL and GAIL.
As TDP is also a key partner in the BJP-led NDA government at the center, with the concerted efforts of the state government all these organizations are likely to meet their earlier commitments.
At the TDP Parliamentary party meeting, Chandrababu Naidu said that each party MP will be allotted three central government ministries and they should concentrate respective departments keeping in view interests of the AP.
