SC Dismisses AP Government’s Plea Against Chandrababu Naidu’s Anticipatory Bail

Amaravati: On Monday, the Supreme Court rejected the Andhra Pradesh government’s plea challenging the anticipatory bail granted to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road scam case. A bench consisting of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta dismissed the state government’s plea, which contested the relief given to Naidu by the high court on January 10.

The bench highlighted that the court had already dismissed an appeal in a related case involving other accused from the same FIR last year. Considering the previous court order, the bench expressed its disinclination to entertain the state government’s appeal. The Inner Ring Road scam case involves allegations of manipulating the master plan of Amaravati capital city, the alignment of the Inner Ring Road, and the seed capital to purportedly provide undue benefits to several companies during Naidu’s tenure as chief minister.
