Chandrababu Created Hope on Amaravati Capital In Two Months

Sunday, December 22, 2024

Within two months after the mammoth victory of TDP and its allies in the elections, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has succeeded to restore hope among people of the state that capital Amaravati will be realized in the very near future. For the last 10 years, Andhra Pradesh remained as the only state in the country without a full-fledged capital city.

Though during his five year’s regime, Chandrababu succeeded in giving a temporary shape to the capital, later YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime has completely shelved the capital notion in the name of `three-capitals’ slogan.

In October 2015, the foundation for the construction of Amaravati capital was laid. After that, construction of roads and buildings was undertaken in the capital region. YCP won the 2019 election. As the YCP did not object to the construction of the capital Amaravati when it was in the opposition, everyone thought that the construction work of Amaravati would speed up.

But in the name of three capitals, the Jagan government dragged time till now without any solid attempts for a capital city. One of the main reasons for the mysterious success of TDP and its allies in the elections was people’s strong desire for a popular capital city.

Realizing the strong desire of the people, soon after coming to power Chandrababu started focusing mainly on Amaravati and Polavaram projects. As TDP emerged as a crucial supporter for the survival of Narendra Modi government at the center, for the first time in the union budget government specifically mentioned its commitment for the construction of capital city Amaravati.

This has created hopes among people that Chandrababu will succeed in his ambitious design for the construction of a world-class city. On one hand, he is focusing on putting Amaravati on the regular track and on the other hand, reviving all the previous mega plans formulated in that direction.

Recent CRDA Governing Council meeting reflected the government’s determination towards Amaravati capital construction. As a part of this, the government has taken steps to scientifically study the quality of building structures so that no problems arise in the future. As part of this, it assigned the task of inspecting the raft foundation in the HOD Towers area and the High Court building construction area to the Chennai IIT team.

In Amaravati, the Hyderabad IIT team was assigned the task of inspecting the MLA and MLC quarters and giving the report. During the tenure of the YCP government, all the constructions of Amaravati stopped in the middle. Now, it would be a herculean task for the government to revive construction activity without compromising on the strength of those constructions.
