Cautioning that some are committing crimes in the guise of politicians, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu asked the police to remove their political mask and take responsibility to prevent crimes. Stating that the state should move towards `Zero Crime’, he asserted that the government will stand behind police in prevention of crime.
The Chief Minister attended a program organized in Vijayawada on the occasion of Police Martyrs Memorial Day on Monday. He recalled that he hasbrought technology in the past for posterity and crimes can be controlled if real time monitoring is possible.
“The fourth eye for the third eye is technology. It will be the last day for the bullies if they act at will. We will stop the smuggling of drugs, ganja and red sandalwood”, he added. Chandrababu said that police are the key to any progress and praised that they are working day and night to protect people’s lives and properties.
Chandrababu wholeheartedly congratulates the policemen who are working tirelessly. He recalled their dynamism in checking Naxalites menace in the state and rowdyism in Vijayawada. He assured that constable appointments will be made in the coming days. He announced that this year the government will provide Rs.20 crores to the police welfare.
He expressed hope to observe Police Martyrs Memorial Day in Amaravati in coming days. A permanent Martyrs Memorial Stupa will be erected in Amaravati, he said. Naidu cautioned that the pattern of crime is changing in today’s society. Only if the police have more technology than the criminals can we arrest them, he added.
The Chief Minister said that he wants visible policing…invisible policing. He alleged that the YCP government used the police for political harassment. He said that the previous chief minister had set up a fence with Rs.12 crores and wasted Rs.700 crores on survey stones. But, he deplored that the previous government did not even give surrender leaves to the police. He assured that the NDA government is responsible for clearing the debts incurred by them.
