In what may be termed as a huge shocker to the ruling party of Andhra Pradesh, YSRCP; the Union Home Ministry has declared that Amravati was and is the only capital of Andhra Pradesh. None other than Union Minister Nityanand Rai reiterated the fact once and forever.
YSRCP MP of Rajya Sabha, Vijay Sai Reddy had asked the Centre regarding the capital of Andhra Pradesh in the upper house and the Union Home Ministry cleared the air on this issue. The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai declared that according to the AP Bifurcation Act and its Sections-5 and 6, Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) was formed and it declared Amravati as AP’s capital in 2014 itself. He added that even though the AP Government in 2022 proposed the act of three capitals, it was overruled again and the CRDA Act was again brought back officially by the center.
The Central Government itself declaring Amravati as the capital is indeed a big thing for those who are against Jagan’s three capital things in AP. Political experts wonder why YSRCP and its boss Jagan keep talking about either the three capitals or shifting the capital to Vizag when the rules and regulations propose Amravati as its capital. One has to wait and see how the YSRCP would respond to this fact. What’s interesting was the YSRCP MP Sai Reddy who actually supports the three capitals posed this question and got clarity from the Union Home Ministry.
