At the Kakinada General Hospital (GGH) doctors performed a brain operation on a woman, while she was watching the comedy scenes from a tab in her hand, between Junior NTR and Brahmananda in her favorite movie `Adurs’.
The medical team successfully completed the sensitive surgery making her engaged in the film, removing a tumor that had formed in her brain. For the doctors in the Hospital, this will be the first occasion in performing such a surgery when the patient was engaged watching some movie scenes.
They are credited with completing this complex surgery when the patient was in awake condition. According to Kakinada GGH Superintendent Dr. Lavanya Kumari, neurosurgery department medical experts, A. Anantalakshmi (55) of A. Kottapalli, Thondangi Mandal has been suffering from severe right leg and right arm twitching for some time.
She was shown in many corporate hospitals. Doctors in those places said that treatment is expensive and difficult to cure. Anantalakshmi was admitted to GGH in Kakinada on 11th of this month with headache, fainting and numbness in the right side of the body.
Doctors examined Ananthalakshmi and initially found a 3.3×2.7 cm tumor on the left side of her brain. It was surgically removed on Tuesday while she was awake under minimal sedation. While Anantalakshmi was in bliss while watching the movie ‘Adurs’, this procedure was undertaken without letting her know the pain.
Doctors said that she sat up and took tiffin. They said that this type of surgery was done for the first time in GGH and they will discharge her in five days. The doctors explained that the treatment lasted for about two and a half hours under the supervision of senior neurosurgery doctors and anesthetists.
The patients usually answer the questions asked by the doctors during the surgery. Dr. A. Vishnuvardhan, GGH Anesthesia chief and Dr. Vijaya Sekhar, Head of Neurosurgery Department explained that they can move forward knowing their problems.
