Natural star Nani’s latest offering ‘Dasara’ took a spectacular opening at the box office in all territories. As expected by trade circles, the rustic entertainer raked in sensational numbers on its first day taking advantage of the Shri Rama Navami festival holiday. The overseas collections, in particular, are simply terrific and mind-blowing despite having premiered on Wednesday. As per trade update, the Srikanth Odhela directional emerged as the biggest opener for Nani in the USA.
Reportedly, Dasara packed a punch at the US box office with an outstanding gross of $ 637K from its Wednesday premieres. This is a phenomenal opening for a medium-budget film and a Wednesday release. Digging deep into the numbers game, Dasara is now the third biggest opener of 2023 among Telugu releases in the USA after Veera Simha Reddy ( $ 709K) and Waltair Veerayya ( $ 683K). Also, this is the fourth biggest opening for a Wednesday release after Sarkaruvaari Paata ( $952K), Aravinda Sametha ($800K), and Veera Simha Reddy ( $ 709K).
By a long chalk, Dasara outnumbered Nani’s previous biggest opener even before the start of premieres and finally ended with double the gross. His previous highest MCA punched out $ 303K from premieres. As the word of mouth and reviews are decent, trade circles are expecting a solid first weekend in the USA. There are good chances for the film to emerge as the career biggest grosser for Nani.
In other overseas territories like Australia, where the film already collected close to A$100K, UK, Canada and New Zealand, trade circles are expecting a strong run in the first weekend.
The promotional blitzkrieg by Nani and his team coupled with scintillating teasers and trailers ensured that the hype on the film reached a crescendo before its release. This is why the film took a stupendous opening all over. Nani’s emotional and engrossing performance and other commercial elements have been receiving a positive response. Dasara is likely to dominate the box office till the release of other new films.
