After YCP came to power government’s advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and MP Vijayasai Reddy have emerged as key power centers both in the government and also in the party. These two leaders have maintained their own clout and hold over former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
However, after Jagan faced disastrous defeat in the polls and the new government started digging into his anarchistic and corrupt practices, resorting to an in-depth probe into their irregularities, these leaders are practically not seen nowadays. Both of them are said to be not seen regularly at the party’s headquarters, Tadepalli palace. Ofcourse, even Jaganmohan Reddy is also mostly keeping away from Andhra Pradesh and spending most of his time in Bangalore Palace.
During five-years of Jagan’s regime, Sajjala emerged as the voice of the government and remained as the only significant face of the party. He was named as `Minister of all departments’ and almost daily reveals government and party’s key decisions holding press conferences.
Even on behalf of key ministries also, he used to address press conferences making concerned ministers dummy. Former minister Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad, who had left the party just before elections, described him as Jagan’s gatemen’, as he will not allow anyone to directly interact with Jaganmohan Reddy.
After the elections, several YCP leaders openly alleged that it was Jagan’s unusual dependence on Sajjala that made the party face such a horrific defeat. So, their disappearance from the scene in recent times gives suspicion that whether they were taking back seats fearing some cases may be filed by the government or Jagan himself keeping them away from limelight?
Jaganmohan Reddy has recently entrusted Alla Mohan Dutt, who was looking after BJP morchas, with the responsibility of party organisational matters. Till now, Sajjala and Vijayasai Reddy and Sajjala were handling these responsibilities. Moreover, Sajjala’s son Bhargava Reddy was also removed from YCP’s Social Media responsibility.
Sajjala was not seen even when Jaganmohan Reddy visited flood affected areas in Vijayawada and also key YCP leaders were arrested in one or other case. He is said to be mostly confined to his home in Hyderabad.
Vijayawada Reddy was also assigned the task of arrangements for Jaganmohan Reddy’s Delhi dharna. But, later he was not seen anywhere in party affairs.
