BJP MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy has made it clear that former Chief Minister KCR and BRS Party Working President KTR, who were involved in phone tapping, should be punished and both of them should go to jail. He appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday as part of the phone tapping case and SIT officials questioned him at the Jubilee Hills Police Station and recorded his statement.
The SIT officials found that Konda Vishweshwar Reddy’s phone was tapped in November 2023. Later, speaking to the media he alleged that false cases were fabricated against him in a biased manner because he had complained about phone tapping in the past.
“My phone was tapped many times in the past. I complained about this just then. Now a full investigation should be conducted into this matter,” he demanded. He said that the SIT officials had shown that his phone was tapped during the Munugode, Dubbaka and Huzurabad by-elections. He claimed that his phone was tapped after he left BRS.
He said that there was opposition after the BRS government came to power, and that his phone was tapped out of insecurity, and that some police officers came to his office without a warrant and abused him and tapped his phone. He alleged that former DGP Mahender Reddy had his phone tapped.
Vishweshwar Reddy believed that KCR and KTR should be given strict punishment to prevent such phone tapping incidents from recurring in the future. He made it clear that this issue will also be raised in Parliament sessions and discussed at the national level.
He suggested that the central government should also take help if necessary to prove the phone tapping case comprehensively. Meanwhile, BJP MP Raghunandan Rao said that he had complained to the DGP several times that the phone tapping started with the Dubbaka by-election.
Stating that the SIT is calling Congress leaders who have nothing to do with the phone tapping, he criticized that Congress and BRS have become the source of the matter. He questioned why the SIT is not calling them who complained. Is this a daily serial to interrogate only one person a day?, he asked. He lamented that the daily serial is being run by ignoring those who provide evidence.
