In Andhra Pradesh, the bird flu outbreak has raised alarms, with the state’s health department confirming the first human case of the virus. A person living near a poultry farm in the Unguturu mandal of Eluru district has tested positive for bird flu. Authorities have acted swiftly, setting up medical camps to monitor individuals displaying flu-like symptoms, while samples are being collected and sent for lab analysis.
The outbreak has been particularly severe in the twin Godavari districts and the former Krishna district, where the virus has affected large numbers of poultry. In Kanuuru, bird flu has been confirmed in chickens, with over 5 million birds reported dead across the affected districts. The health department has urged the public to avoid consuming chicken temporarily as a precaution.
As a result of the health warnings and social media awareness campaigns, chicken sales have significantly decreased, causing a notable drop in prices across the Telugu states.
