Till now TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh are only star campaigners for TDP in the state. But for the first time Chandrababu’s wife Nara Bhuvaneswari and Lokesh wife Nara Brahmani are swinging into the poll campaign. Their presence electrified the TDP cadre.
These two women were seen in the political arena for the first time last year after the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu after AP CID. Since then, Bhuvaneswari is touring the district meeting family members of those who died disturbing with Naidu’s arrest.
She is now mainly focusing on the Kuppam assembly constituency, represented by Chandrababu Naidu since 1989. On his behalf, two days ago, she only filed nomination papers. She also participated in Naidu’s birthday celebrations in Kuppam along with a large number of women. She said “For Chandrababu Naidu the State and its people come first, everything else comes later.”
Similarly, Brahmani is focusing on Mangalagiri constituency, from where Lokesh is contesting. She is actively campaigning in the constituency in support of Lokesh. Though she is known as a very successful business woman, it will be the first occasion for her to take part in political activity.
However, she is attracting people with her simple and sharp articulation. Brahmani during her interaction with women in Mangalagiri, explained the salient features of the TDP manifesto and appealed to them to give their mandate to Lokesh and Guntur MP candidate Pemmasani Chandrasekhar in the coming elections.
Bhuvaneswari also interacted with the women of the minority community, explained to them about the vision of the TDP for empowerment of women and assured them of their bright future under leadership of Naidu. Alleging that the YSRC has no respect for women, she recalled the incident where a YSRC leader reportedly pulled off a woman’s burqa and molested her in Nandikotkur on the Ramzan day.
“It is shocking how the YSRC government hasn’t been able to appoint teachers for Urdu in schools for minority children. Around 80% of the Wakf Board lands have been occupied by the government,” Bhuvaneswari alleged.
