‘Bholaa Shankar’ : Producer feared to hold press meet?

The disastrous result of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s latest release Bholaa Shankar triggered a lot of controversies. There has been a non-stop debate on remakes, remunerations and other factors that led to the shocking box office result of this big-ticket film. Also, Chiranjeevi’s 65 Crore remuneration became a talking point everywhere.

So many rumours in the form of news articles about Anil Sunkara’s poor fate as a producer surfaced over the last one week. Some web portals went to the extent of saying that he even sold his prime properties to pay the full remuneration to Chiranjeevi as per the terms and conditions that were signed before starting the shooting formalities.

Keeping aside the authenticity of these rumours, it should be noted that a remuneration paid to an artist is an exclusive transaction between the producer and the artist. No other individual has the right to raise a point about these transactions. It solely depends on the understanding between the producer and the artist.

But, Bholaa Shankar controversy drew a lot of criticism towards Chiranjeevi. Seeing the amount of damage done to the reputation of Chiru with the negative campaign run by the Tollywood media, many expected Anil Sunkara to hold a press meet and scotch all the ongoing rumours to put an end to this unnecessary controversy.

However, Sunkara remained light-lipped till yesterday. He simply took to Twitter and came up with a long post condemning the ongoing rumours. Sunkara said Chiru was very supportive to him and everything that is being speculated is pure trash.

Many are now expressing dissent on the way Sunkara dealt with these rumour mongers. They expected him to address the press and clarify on these rumours in detail. But, talk in the industry is that Sunkara feared to hold a press meet as he didn’t want to face media and answer their tricky questions. So, he simply posted a few lines on his Twitter account and washed off his hands.
