The political battleground in Telangana is intensifying as Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his Congress government mark their first year in power with statewide celebrations. In response, the BJP staged a high-profile public meeting, “6 Lies, 66 Betrayals,” at Saroor Nagar Stadium in Hyderabad, aiming sharp criticism at the ruling party.
BJP National President J.P. Nadda headlined the event, joined by senior leaders like Central Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who accused the Congress of failing to deliver on its pre-election promises. Sanjay claimed the much-publicized “six guarantees” were nothing but hollow assurances meant to mislead the people of Telangana.
BJP’s Sankranti Ultimatum to Congress
In a fiery address, Bandi Sanjay issued a Sankranti deadline for the Congress to address key public grievances. He warned that BJP workers would intensify their protests if immediate action is not taken, even threatening to disrupt the movements of state ministers and MLAs. Sanjay predicted that the dissatisfaction among farmers would reflect in the upcoming local body elections, signaling a backlash against the Congress government.
Allegations of Bias and Broken Governance
Sanjay went on to accuse the Congress of catering to a specific community through its welfare schemes, sidelining others in the process. He called on BJP supporters to rally for victory in the upcoming GHMC elections, promising transformative changes in Hyderabad under BJP leadership. Sanjay assured voters that a BJP-led administration would prioritize inclusive development and ensure a safe environment for all communities.
Attacks on Cultural Heritage and Governance Failures
Raising concerns over incidents involving temples like the Muthyalamma and Shamshabad temples, Sanjay alleged that the Congress government was compromising Hyderabad’s cultural integrity. He also highlighted food poisoning cases in welfare hostels, emphasizing the struggles faced by students and employees due to alleged administrative lapses.
Center’s Role in Telangana’s Development
Sanjay credited the BJP-led central government for driving rural progress in Telangana, accusing the Congress of taking undue credit for initiatives funded and implemented by the Center.
As Telangana gears up for local body elections, the political rhetoric is heating up, with both parties vying to shape the narrative and secure voter trust.
