If the ongoing reports in Andhra Pradesh media and political circles are to be believed, Tollywood actor and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna has been nominated for Padma Bhushan award for the year 2025. Reportedly, the government of Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has recommended Balakrishna’s name for his immense contribution to the Telugu film industry and the society through philanthropic activities and as a responsible elected representative of the people.
Balakrishna is a renowned actor who made his debut as film artist five decades taking up the mantle from his father and legendary actor NTR to carry forward the legacy of the illustrious Nandamuri family. He appeared in numerous roles and delivered many memorable performances all these years. He acted in multifarious characters and impressed the audiences with his versatile acting.
Just like his father, Balakrishna stepped into politics at the right time and won as MLA from Hindupur constituency three consecutive times. He has delivered his best work as an MLA for his constituency in the last decade. Balayya displayed his magnanimity towards the society when he established the Indo-American Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad to render medical treatment to cancer patients at an affordable price.
Recognising his social services and contribution to the film industry, government of AP has recommended Balakrishna to the prestigious Padma Bhushan award to the centre. The list of Padma Award winners will be announced by the centre ahead of the Republic Day next year. There is a strong possibility that Balakrishna will be conferred with the coveted award.
