In Tirupati, a professor who was supposed to teach students at the feet of Lord Venkateswara and teach them about respective subjects, has created a stir by preaching paganism using the Bible. Moreover, he has also invited students to convert into his religion.
The incident of paganism in Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) has come to light late. Bajrang Dal activists have staged a protest over the incident that took place in the SVU Engineering College. Bajrang Dal leaders have expressed concern that Professor Changaiah, an EEE department professor working at the university, is preaching Bible to students.
They have alleged that he is teaching the Bible instead of the subject every day, insulting Hindu gods and mentally harassing them. Bajrang Dal leaders found photos and literature related to other religions in Professor Changaiah’s office and brought it to the attention of the university registrar.
They submitted a petition to the Vice Chancellor to take action against Changaiah. They said that audio clippings of him preaching Bible to students had come out. They accused the Vice Chancellor of being negligent about his religious discourse.
They demanded that the professor be removed from his duties immediately. When the Bajrang Dal leaders questioned the professor about religious discourse, a minor dispute broke out. The professor was strongly reprimanded. Changaiah’s car was attacked with stones.
Following this, the police reached the spot and sent the Bajrang Dal leaders out and brought the situation under control. It is reported that a female faculty member had filed a written complaint with the university authorities about religious preaching by the professor two days ago. When the college principal, Acharya Srinivasa Rao, was contacted about this incident, he said that a committee would be formed with the professors.
