AP’s debt inching 9 lakh crores by 2023

Tuesday, November 12, 2024

The YSRCP-ruled Andhra Pradesh has been undergoing its lowest stature in its entire history post its formation as the debt reached its all-time high. Within just three-plus years of ruling, Jagan’s sarkar made a total debt of Rs 8.71 lakh crores.

Jagan led the YSRCP camp and promised many freebies under the name ‘Navaratnas’ and the CM post gaining the chair only concentrated on implementing them instead of developing the state. Jagan surpassed CBN’s debt just in three years of his tenure and now he is asking the officials to apply for more debts in and around India seeking payments of bills. As of now the count until the first six months of this fiscal year reached a total of 8.71 crores and within the end of this fiscal year, this figure will cross 9 lakhs of crores. What’s astonishing is that even with such debt, the government is yet to pay the salaries of many government organizations along with some unpaid bills to many private contractors. Many such individuals are approaching the courts of justice and even with such court notices, the state government remained silent.

Retired bureaucrats opine that it takes a lot of time for the state to be in a debt-free zone and that development at this juncture is almost impossible. Still, the AP Government is looking forward to seeking debts from the RBI in thousands of crores as the total bills it has to pay accounted for more than one lakh crores just for this fiscal year.
