The Jagan government gave a surprising shock to the Telangana CM KCR and his government regarding the distribution of assets between the states of AP and Telangana according to the bifurcation act. The AP govt approached the Supreme Court of India and filed a petition to see into the case and do justice.
It’s been more than eight years post the bifurcation and the assets sharing is still incomplete. Be it the silence of the AP CM or the stubbornness of the KCR, this issue was slowly sidelined and even the voters forgot it in the first place. All of a sudden Jagan decided to seek justice and formed a committee to file an affidavit. According to the petition, AP Govt states that the Telangana govt has violated the sentiments of the AP people as per Articles 14 and 21 by not sharing the assets and properties. It added that the T-state delayed the distribution of assets worth 1.42 lakhs of crores to AP and all these assets are in Hyderabad under the control of Telangana.
Already a case was pending regarding the same issue in High Court when the apex court directed the two states to share the cash reserves based on the population ratio and even the counterpart Telangana asked the AP govt to withdraw the case. One has to wait and see how KCR and its government respond to this new case. Observers say that Jagan has woken up after all these years as he is running out of money to pay salaries to many government employees still along with many pending overdrafts to the RBI.
