Wednesday, December 18, 2024

The AP government has decided to run two types of primary schools from now on. It has also decided to change the school timings. In this regard, the authorities have already given orders to implement it as a pilot project in Nellore district.

The primary schools will be classified as Basic Primary Schools and Model Primary Schools. Basic Primary School Basic primary schools will have classes 1 and 2 along with PP-1 and PP-2. Where there are social barriers and natural barriers, classes 1 to 5 will also be conducted along with PP-1 and PP-2.

There will be one SGT for students below 20, two SGTs for students below 21 to 60, and then one SGT teacher for every 30 students.

In the second type of Model Primary Schools, they will be set up in each revenue gram panchayat. If the number of students is 100 or more, one teacher will be allotted for each class. An LFL principal will be allotted for each school whose roll exceeds 120. Model primary schools will be restarted from the next academic year.

Even if there are 70-80 students initially, that primary school will be identified as a model primary school. Five teachers will be given for five classes. The government is planning to convert 9,000 to 10,000 schools across the state into model primary schools in the next 2-3 years.

If the number of students in classes 6,7,8 is less than 60 in Upper Primary Schools, the school will be downgraded to a primary school, and if it is more than 60, it will be upgraded to a high school. Upper primary schools with less than 30 students in classes 6,7,8 will be downgraded to primary schools.

Upper primary schools in tribal areas, Tandas and colonies with a student population of 31 to 59 and located at a distance of more than 5 km from the nearest high school will be upgraded to Upper Primary (UP) schools.

Grade II Principal and PET posts will be mandatory for every high school with 75 or more students. The work will not exceed 36 periods. Draft proposals for all these will be completed by November 30.

The timings in schools in the state are going to change. The state has brought new timings for this. Before implementing this across the state, orders were given on Saturday to implement it in Nellore district as a pilot project.

The orders stated that it is proposed to change the school timings in the academic year 2024-25. The orders clarified that only the time of each period should be increased, along with the old working hours and weightages. This will give each teacher enough time to cover the syllabus as well as the teaching-learning process.
