AP Government to Issue ATM-Sized Ration Cards from May

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a significant change in the issuance of ration cards, with plans to introduce ATM card-sized ration cards. State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Nadendla Manohar, stated that these new cards will be issued from May, following the completion of e-KYC verification. The updated cards will feature QR codes and additional security measures, along with options for adding or removing family members and splitting cards.
Deepam-2: Second Phase of Free Gas Cylinder Distribution Begins
The second phase of gas cylinder booking under the Deepam-2 scheme commenced today. Minister Nadendla Manohar reiterated that eligible beneficiaries receive three free LPG cylinders per year. Gas companies have reported that two lakh new gas connections have been issued under the scheme.
Fine Rice to Be Supplied for Midday Meals from June
The Andhra Pradesh government will begin supplying fine rice for the Midday Meal Scheme from June. Minister Nadendla Manohar stated that an investigation is underway into alleged irregularities involving MDUs (Millers and Dealers Union). The government has procured 35.93 lakh tonnes of paddy during the Kharif season, with payments credited to farmers’ accounts within 24 hours of procurement. Additionally, a WhatsApp-based paddy selling facility has been introduced, benefiting 16,000 farmers so far.
Telangana Rice Exports Approved via AP Ports
Telangana has exported 1.5 lakh tonnes of rice through Andhra Pradesh ports following approval from the central government, Minister Nadendla Manohar confirmed.
