The Andhra Pradesh government has renamed the Srinivasa Sethu flyover in Tirupati back to “Garuda Varadhi,” marking a significant shift in nomenclature under the coalition government. The move comes after widespread public requests to restore the original name.
Initially launched in 2018 by then-Chief Minister Chandrababu as “Garuda Varadhi,” the project was renamed “Srinivasa Sethu” during the YSRCP regime. However, following directives from Chief Minister Chandrababu, officials have now reverted to the original name.
This renaming is part of a broader trend, with the coalition government revisiting several schemes and projects initially renamed under the YSRCP administration. Reports suggest that the decision to restore the original name reflects the government’s commitment to public sentiment, particularly in key urban areas like Tirupati.
