Chandrababu Naidu’s government has focused on misappropriation of funds in `Adudam Andhra’, `CM’ and other sports events organized during the previous YCP government. Actions have started on the complaints made by various sports associations and senior sports persons to the CID.
Prasad, the CEO of the sports organization, complained to the CID that the funds related to the games were misused. The CID responded to the complaint to take action against the Sports Minister RK Roja, then President of AP Olympic Association and former Minister Dharmana Krishnadas.
CID has ordered Vijayawada City Police Commissioner to take further action on this complaint. Additional Director General of CID has issued orders. During the previous government’s tenure, before the elections, `Audham Andhra’ program was organized with Rs.150 crores.
There were many complaints that huge amounts of funds were misused in this program. It is known that in `Audham Andhra’, there were allegations of purchasing substandard kits to provide to the players. At the same time as these competitions were being held across the state, the cricket bats broke. This topic was being discussed at that time.
Moreover, there have been allegations of misappropriation of funds from the purchase of `Audham Andhra’ jerseys for the meals provided to the players. It is known that the current Sports Minister Ramprasad Reddy has recently announced that an investigation will be conducted into these allegations and action will be taken against those responsible.
In relation to these, the tender process, how many sports equipment have been given work orders and how many have come to the state? How many were given to the players? Among them, quality and other issues will be investigated.
During the previous government’s regime, there was criticism of the `Aadham Andhra’ program which was being run with public money. It was alleged that the winners were announced as per the interests of the YCP leaders, but not on the basis of merit.
However, the coalition government is ready to investigate the allegations of misappropriation of funds. The investigation is likely to start soon. And it remains to be seen how former ministers RK Roja and Krishna Das will respond to these allegations.
