Another cyclone storm Heading Towards Andhra Pradesh

Another storm is heading towards Andhra Pradesh, which has already been hit by heavy rains and floods recently. The disaster management department has alerted the collectors of all the districts and  issued clear instructions on toll free numbers, rehabilitation centers and relief measures.

The surface circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal is continuing. As a result of this, the India Meteorological Department has informed that there are indications of low pressure formation in South West Bay of Bengal by 14th of this month. It has been warned that it is likely to become a severe storm.

Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur in the state from the 14th of this month due to the effect of low pressure. To this extent, the IMD said that heavy rain is expected in the state on 14th, 15th and 16th of this month. The low pressure is likely to turn into a cyclone on the 14th and become a severe storm on 15th. It is likely to cross the Tamil Nadu coast on 15th of this month.

The AP Disaster Management Department has issued a warning that there is a possibility of light to moderate rains with thundershowers in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema in the next 24 hours under the influence of surface circulation.

It also cautioned that heavy rains are likely to occur at some places in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema from 14th to 17th of this month and there is a possibility of gusty winds of 35 km to 55 km per hour along the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

From the 14th of this month, fishermen have been warned not to go fishing in the sea. Disaster management control room toll free numbers 1070, 112, 18004250101 have been set up for emergency relief operations.  Warnings have been issued to stay away from rivulets, canals, roads, culverts and manholes that are overflowing with heavy rains.

Home Minister Anitha has ordered police and disaster management department officials to be vigilant as there is a forecast of widespread rains in Coast Andhra and Rayalaseema districts. Instructions were given to the authorities to set up control rooms and helplines. Actions should be taken to avoid loss of life and property.
