Embracing the idea of “old wine in a new bottle,” today’s young filmmakers are increasingly casting yesteryear stars and celebrated artists in key roles to generate strong buzz around their films. Director Anil Ravipudi, known for his commercial entertainers, is following this trend with his upcoming project.
After delivering a major box-office hit earlier this year with Sankranthiki Vasthunnam starring Venkatesh, Ravipudi is now collaborating with legendary playback singer Udit Narayan for his next film Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, featuring megastar Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara in the lead roles. The film is being prepared as a Sankranti 2026 release, and promotional activities are already underway.
As part of the promotions, Udit Narayan has been brought on board to sing a new song titled Meesaala Pilla Promo. The celebrated singer, whose voice dominated Telugu and other Indian film industries in the late 1990s and early 2000s, is remembered for iconic numbers like “Ramma Chilakamma,” “Kaikaluri Kanne Pilla,” and “Vana Vana Vennela Vana” from Chiranjeevi’s past films.
With Narayan’s melodious voice and Chiranjeevi’s signature dance and screen presence, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu promises to deliver a vibrant festive spectacle on the big screen this Sankranti.
