The wait for experiencing movies in an IMAX format for the people of Andhra Pradesh will end very soon. Hyderabad boasts one of the biggest IMAX screens in Prasad’s Cinemas. But, there is no similar thing in AP. After bifurcation, moviegoers have been expecting the launch of an IMAX in one of the leading cities in the state. The long awaited dream will soon become a reality as Lulu Group is planning to set up a grand mall with cinema theatres including an IMAX in Vishakapatnam.
Lulu Group chairman and MD Yusuffali met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu last Saturday and announced that they will invest 3500 Crores across different cities in the state. Going back on its 2019 decision to never invest again in AP following YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s anti-investment friendly policies which resulted in cancellation of the land alloted to the company, Lulu Group has now decided to enter the state with premium malls and multiplexes in Vizag and hyper markets in Vijayawada and Tirupati.
Chandrababu Naidu held a fruitful discussion with Lulu Group chairman and directors and announced the news. This development brought a massive hope among the people of Andhra Pradesh. This augurs well for the state and will be big boost to the tourism sector. After this meeting, Yusuffali thanked Naidu for the warm welcome and announced the big news about setting up of an IMAX in Vizag and also food processing and logistic centres across the state.
The Abu Dhabi-based company has decided to construct an international standard shopping mall with eight-screen Imax multiplex in Visakhapatnam, state-of-the-art hypermarkets in Vijayawada and Tirupati, and modern food processing and logistic centres. It may be recalled that Lulu Group had come forward to set up an international convention centre and create other facilities in Visakhapatnam with huge investments during the TDP regime in 2014-19, but had to back off following the cancellation of land allotments by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Government.
