Among those being investigated is Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy, commonly referred to as Raj. His name has been mentioned most often in the scandal, and while MP Mithun Reddy was originally implicated, he was released on bail by the Supreme Court. Kasireddy’s role is still the focal point of the investigation.
Kasireddy has been called by the SIT on several occasions to be questioned, but he has kept evading the probe by citing other work commitments. He has strongly denied any involvement in the scam, claiming that his work was limited to a completely different department.
In a dramatic change of events, the SIT raided Kasireddy’s office and house in Hyderabad. The raid commenced at 3 PM on Monday in his home based in Banjara Hills. The officials confiscated key documents and computer hard discs during the raid. Police also ordered residents to stay on the premises as police officers took care of sealing off the site using local officers.
While Kasireddy was not around at the time of the raid, the police have not given out minute details about what was seized. These measures represent a major boost to the investigation, again stoking public interest in the liquor scam unraveling.
