Finally, an engineering miracle happened in the Tungabhadra reservoir. Engineers are credited with installing a stoplog gate while the dam gate was washed away and the flow was flowing.
In Tungabhadra Dam, which is a common reservoir of three states, a stop log gate was installed in place of the 19th gate which was washed away by the flow on 10th of this month while there was a heavy flood. With that, 70 TMC of water could be saved from washing away to the sea.
Engineers succeeded in installing all 5 elements. Each element, four feet high, was installed with great courage to prevent the flow of wasted water. Even if the reservoir is completely filled with the arrangement of five elements, this stop log gate will prevent the flow of water from the 19th gate downstream.

Three days ago, work started to construct a temporary gate in the Tungabhadra reservoir to replace the missing gate. Under the supervision of Kannayyanaidu, the reservoir authorities intensified efforts to install a stop log gate in place of the washed away gate. On Saturday night, 84 thousand cusecs is flowing into the Tungabhadra reservoir. Only 72 TMC of water has crossed the dam. Officials have estimated that the water reserves of the reservoir may reach 105.78 TMC within a week.
