Even before the dust surrounding his rift with Mega fans settled and as his latest release Pushpa 2 continues to run amock at the box office with record-breaking numbers in all territories, the recent stampede-like incident during the special show on the first day which resulted in the death of a women from Hyderabad added to his bad reputation further.
It is a known fact that Allu Arjun attended the special premiere of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya 70 MM without giving any prior intimation to the police and to the theatre staff. Due to lack of adequate security measures, heavy crowds gathered at the hall and this resulted in utter chaos, leading to stampede during which the woman succumbed to death due to asphyxiation. The incident raised serious concerns of safety and security at such big gatherings. The tragic news of the lady’s death has left everyone’s beyond moviegoers devastated.
While Allu Arjun’s team quickly responded that they will take care of the bereaved family, the Pushpa actor himself released a video byte to express his deep condolences in the aftermath of the incident. Unfortunately, Allu Arjun’s four minute long video in which he expressed pain over the tragic incident and reacted on the death of the lady. He appealed to all fans to take necessary precautions and care while watching films.
Even though Bunny announced a solatium of Rs 25 lakhs to the family as a compensation for the loss, the manner in which he spoke in the video triggered widespread backlash because he didn’t even tender an apology and expressed regret for his action which is the main reason for the unfortunate incident. Allu Arjun spoke at length about the incident and also expressed that the entire team was shocked after knowing the news.
Those who watched the video felt that Allu Arjun’s words appear artificial with no real empathy for the family. Some even commented that he or the team should have visited the family of the deceased and express sympathy towards their grief.
Moreover, the timing of the video also came into question as two days elapsed after the incident came to light. As the entire media spread the news within minutes after it happened, Allu Arjun should have responded immediately about the incident while expressing a heartful apology for his negligent decision to attend the show without any prior information. However, he chose to respond after nearly two days which invited huge backlash. Many started hitting out Bunny and his team for their insensitive approach.
Pushpa 2 held massive events in Patna and Hyderabad. Luckily, no untoward incident took place. But, such massive gatherings always bring to the fore the safety concerns of the public.
