Ajith Kumar’s latest film Vidaamuyarchi has landed on Netflix less than a month after its theatrical release on February 6. However, the film has failed to generate significant traction even on the streaming platform. The movie, inspired by Kurt Russell’s Hollywood thriller Breakdown, is now available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
Despite Ajith Kumar’s star power, Vidaamuyarchi received widespread criticism from fans upon release, with many expressing disappointment over his choice of project. Even on OTT, die-hard fans are reportedly uninterested in watching the film, further reflecting its lackluster reception. A similar fate had earlier befallen Kamal Haasan and director Shankar’s Indian 2.
Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, the film features Arjun, Trisha, and Regina Cassandra in key roles. While composer Anirudh Ravichander has delivered multiple chart-topping soundtracks in recent times, Vidaamuyarchi failed to impress despite his involvement.
With Vidaamuyarchi underperforming, there are concerns about the impact on Ajith’s upcoming film Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran. Slated for release on April 10, the film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers’ Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar. Trisha plays the female lead once again, while G.V. Prakash Kumar handles the music. Fans are hopeful that Good Bad Ugly will succeed where Vidaamuyarchi fell short.
