The ACB officials, who arrested AEE of the Irrigation Department, Nikesh Kumar, on Saturday in a case of disproportionate assets, were surprised to find Rs 170 crore worth assets with him. Later, he was produced before a judge and Nikesh Kumar was remanded in 14-day judicial remand and was shifted to Chanchalguda jail from there.
It seems that the ACB is focusing on an AEE who amassed huge assets in a very short period of time. Who are shielding him from taking action despite complaints against him in the past? The Anti-Corruption Bureau has found that Nikesh Kumar, who is working as AEE of the Irrigation Department of Rangareddy district, has glaring illegal income. As part of the investigation into the case of a bribery case in which the ACB had caught the accused earlier, 20 teams conducted inspections on Saturday and seized a stash of illegal assets.
The officials conducted searches at the house of Nikesh Kumar in Pebble City Gated Community, Peerancheruvu, Gandipet Mandal in his presence. Searches were conducted in 19 areas related to his relatives and close friends and seized illegal assets. 6 plots, six acres of agricultural land and 2 commercial complex buildings belonging to the accused were identified.
Officials estimate that the open market value could exceed Rs. 170 crore. While working as an AEE in Gandipet, Nikesh Kumar was caught red-handed by the ACB on May 30 this year for accepting a bribe from someone. He was later released on bail. As ACB officials inquired about the details of his assets in that case, Nikesh’s illegal assets were uncovered.
Nikesh Kumar turned the wheel as the structures in Rangareddy district were within the limits of tanks, canals, FTL and buffer zones. As NOC documents became crucial in the irrigation department, his illegal ambitions became endless. Nikesh Kumar is adept at filling his pockets by granting permission for real estate constructions in Hyderabad areas.
