The Specialty Hospitals Association has made a significant decision regarding Aarogyasri services in Andhra Pradesh, announcing that these services will be suspended starting May 22. On Monday, the association sent a letter to the government explaining their stance. The apex court highlighted that bills amounting to Rs 1,500 crore have been pending since August of last year and urged Aarogyasri Trust CEO Laxmi Shah to settle these dues. The letter stated that if the payments are not made, Aarogyasri services in private hospitals will be halted from May 22.
The association noted that despite numerous representations to the government over the past six months, there has been no response. Even the announcement to suspend Aarogyasri services from May 4 did not prompt any action from the government. The association explained that they were compelled to make this decision due to the prolonged non-payment of bills, which has created untenable circumstances. Despite sending multiple letters about the outstanding bills, only Rs 50 crore has been paid so far.
