Lokesh Kanagaraj, is ready to introduce something new on the silver screen with his next film Coolie, starring Tamil cinema legend Rajinikanth in the lead role. Having given back-to-back hits such as Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo, Lokesh is leaving behind his cinematic universe methodology and designing Coolie as a separate high-speed action drama. Coolie has already wrapped its shoot and is under post-production now.
Expectations from Coolie are high, given the cast of major stars such as Telugu superstar Nagarjuna and Kannada legend Upendra in important roles. To the already charged buzz, there is added confirmation that Bollywood icon Aamir Khan will be making a special cameo appearance. Although there had been word going around about his participation for some time now, Aamir himself recently put every rumor to rest.
On his promotional tour of Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan spilled the beans that he has actually worked on a role for Coolie. He had called it a “short but very strong” turn in the climax of the movie, suggesting a performance that could leave a lasting imprint. This has naturally set off widespread theories among fans—many drawing parallels with Suriya’s detonative ‘Rolex’ cameo in Vikram, which was a talking point of the movie.
Aamir also disclosed that he didn’t even give it a hearing of the complete script. As soon as he got to know that it was a Rajinikanth film, he agreed straightaway. He further spoke about his immense respect for the superstar, mentioning that he would do any role just to work in a film with Rajinikanth.
With the powerhouse cast of Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, and Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie is poised to become one of the most eagerly awaited Indian movies in 2025. The movie is set to release in theaters with a grand global release on August 14, and the fans are already counting down the days.
