Finally, Vijayawada Police has made a breakthrough in the politically sensitive case of stone attack on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and identified the culprit. Three days after the incident police arrested five youth, including a youth named Satish from Ajit Singh Nagar Vaddera Colony, who was found to have thrown a stone at the Chief Minister.
Along with Satish, four others have been detained by the police and are being interrogated. Akash, Durga Rao, Chinna and Santhosh, who were with the accused at the time of the attack, were also detained by the police.
It is reported that the police identified the accused by examining the videos taken by people in the public during Jagan’s bus yatra. According to unconfirmed reports, it is known that the police investigation revealed that Satish threw stones at Jagan in desperation as he was not given promised money to participate in the tour.
YCP leaders have reportedly brought people for the chief minister’s programme promising each a quarter bottle of wine and Rs. 350 cash. When they arrived, they left with a bottle of liquor in their hands and avoided giving cash as per promise.
It is reported that Satish told the police that he hit CM Jagan with a stone when he left without paying cash. But this has not been officially confirmed by the police. At 8.04 pm on Saturday night, Chief Minister Jagan was attacked with a stone at Daba Kotla Centre in Ajit Singh Nagar.
The thrown stone directly hit CM Jagan on the forehead. The Vijayawada police have taken up an investigation forming about 8 teams on the attack on the CM who was on the rooftop bus. Mobile tower dumps were analyzed in the area where the bus journey took place.
As there was no evidence except for the videos taken in the dark, they announced a reward of Rs. 2 lakhs on providing any clue about the culprits in the incident. Police found that CM Jagan was attacked with a piece of tiles used on the footpaths. The police have taken the accused into custody and are questioning the youth about the reasons behind the attack.
