The increase of as many as 106 medical PG seats by the Centre across the state in Government Medical Colleges, is said to be a slap on the face of Chandrababu Naidu’s government, who has decided to privatize new medical colleges started by Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime.
His accusations that the previous regime neglected without constructing buildings to new medical colleges, which is forcing their government to invite private participation.
Now, the Center has sanctioned 106 additional seats in gynecology, general medicine and other specialty courses. The Indian Medical Council has approved the necessary proposals.
This was announced by the Minister of Health and Medical Affairs Satyakumar Yadav himself. With this, the YSRCP leaders, who have been staging protests across the state to block attempts to hand over medical colleges to private companies, seem to have found a strong weapon.
Senior leader of the party and former minister Dr. Seediri Appalraju, responding to this, said that by allocating PG seats to the state, the Chandrababu government’s poisonous propaganda has been put to rest. The ministers who spread bad news with old photos that no medical colleges were built during Jagan’s tenure, demanded an answer as to why the NMC had allocated PG seats if colleges were not built?
He said that the TDP coalition government has opened a conspiracy to tie government medical colleges to them in the name of PPP just because people remember Jagan when they see them.
Jagan has repeatedly said that he started the construction of medical colleges for the good of the people, for the poor to get quality medicine and for the poor to realize their dream of becoming a doctor, but on the other hand, he said that ministers and other coalition leaders, including Chandrababu, have spread misinformation that no medical colleges have been built.
At the same time, he said that the National Medical Council has sanctioned PG seats to five medical colleges that were completed and classes started during Jagan’s tenure. Now what will the TDP coalition government say about this?, he asked.. He lamented that where the government should have earned revenue, it is being sold to private individuals and government properties are being given to them like lentils and bell peppers.
Former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has also visited Narsipatnam Medical College. He has rallied the people against privatization and the PPP policy. At the same time, the YSRCP has also undertaken a campaign to collect one crore signatures. This campaign is currently going on in full swing across the state. Jagan will present all the collected signatures to the Governor.
